More Books for Otters
Are you looking for ideas of story books to read to your otters during meetings? This list, complied by Haley Skaer, has some great ones! She has even added a short note after each title to tell you a little more about that book. Many of these go with a certain holiday or time of year. It may be helpful to plan ahead and make a list of books to read
- Waiting for Winter by Sebastian Meschenmoser – A squirrel, hedgehog and bear decided to stay up to see snow
- Balloons over Broadway by Melissa Sweet – About the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade balloons
- Our Very Own Dog by Amanda McCardie – Dog care, caring for a pet
- There’s a Map On My Lap by Dr Seuss Learning Library – All about maps
- Wilfrid Gordon McDonald Partridge by Mem Fox – A cute story about a little child’s friendship with an elderly dementia patient
- Rhoda’s Rock Hunt by Molly Beth Griffin – Rhoda likes to collect rocks
- Impatient Pamala Calls 911 by Mary Koski – Pamala is learning about calling 911 and when it’s appropriate to do so. This is an old book so you can also get some laughs about why there is a cord on the phone and the phone is so large.
- Do Unto Otters by Laurie Keller – Pretty much what it sounds like, only it’s all about otters
- Oopsie Otter: A Tail of Playful Otters by Suzanne Tate – Learning about otters. This is a great series for the age if you want to talk about almost any animal as well.
- Can I Join Your Club by John Kelly – The focus is on inclusivity
- Super Duper Safety School: Safety School for Kids and Grown Ups by Pattie Fitzgerald – Staying safe, tircky people, your body is your own
- Here Come the Girl Scouts by Shana Corey and Hadley Hooper – A book about Juliette Gordon Low. Our library systems had no books on anyone else, but this was a nice way to introduce an otherwise boring topic to otters.
